208 will see more unidentified's than any year in recorded history and this is only the tip of what is to follow. Paul Sinclair december 207
The subject of orange UFOs/ILFs are been seen the world over at this present time. Some are misinterpretations without doubt, but not all, look past the obvious orange ufo/lantern reports. Look deeper they are not all been seen in close proximity to weddings and Christmas celebrations. Some are seen out at sea. Some like the yorkshire wold sightings are seen in the early hours in areas so remote that it is hard to understand how anyone could seriously think Chinese lanterns were responsible. I think we have the best footage in the world right now of these objects.
Blue object 2009large blue and white objectlf and another witness on the Yorkshire Wolds February 4, 2009-Approximate time- 10.55 pm. sky was very overcast and the conditions were freezing with snow and ice on all fields and roads.
We arrived at about 8.30 and did think from the off that it would be an uneventful night due to the poor visibility. The conditions on the Wolds have been quite bad over the past few weeks. This will be our first UFO sighting to be added to the ILF-UFO web site for 2009.
The cloud cover was quite low and appeared to circle the surrounding area, if you looked straight up stars and planes could be seen. About 500 yards into the distance is a farm that sits on the left hand side of the road. Beyond that is a small area of woodland which belongs to the farm.
We have spoken to the farmer several times during our visits and exchanged contact numbers. The farmer and his family have had their very own close encounter many years ago, and were not at all surprised by my interest in the area.
The trees are about 30 feet in height and from where we were sitting gave us a good reference point. To the right of that and many miles into the distance is RAF Staxton Wold.
I have to say that Steve who was with me, saw the object first, from the few seconds of actually seeing it to shouting out in excitement for me to turn around. It all lasted no more that 10 seconds at the most.
Steve says that from nowhere a huge, light blue oblong-shaped light appeared above the trees. He said at that first moment it appeared to be as big as a bus. It was flat at the bottom curved down at the front. It was traveling very slowly, and getting smaller with each passing second.
When I turned and saw it, it was still quite large and pale blue in colour. We have no idea of distance, but due to its great size we think it was within a mile of us. This is, however, only speculation as the weather conditions do not allow me to be more accurate.
The object just dissolved into the cloud and I did think we would see it as it passed over the view of Staxton Wold, but we saw nothing more.
We can say that it was definitely in the air as the tree line has no high land at the back of it. Despite this being a short sighting I do regard it as very interesting due to its huge size and colour.
Another point to make is that everything was in total silence, no cars, no aircraft noise from high above, nothing.
Regards,
Paul, www.ILF-UFO.co.uk
Large Orb sighting Beverly westwood
First of all Paul, Well done on all your hard work capturing this evidence and making it available. Also the new site is so much more readable, nice work.
I've been following your work on youtube and your site for a while now, the reason I am contacting you now, is after seeing your recent orb video on youtube.
I saw one of these on Beverley Westwood back in September 2001.
I had gone up there to get my thoughts together and talk with mygirlfriend. It was a clear night about 10pm - We were parked on Newbald Road overlooking the Golf course. I spotted something in the distance towards the Humber, that looked like a very bright star, it got closer and looked like a plane landing light approaching. There was no sound at all and it's approach seemed slow but constant, we were a little uneasy as it was shortly after the 9/11 attacks in America.
It passed directly over us, heading towards Leconfield. I would guess it must have been a few hundred feet above us and approx 20-30 foot in size, I couldn't make any thing out it just appeared to be a white ball of light. (I had the sunroof of the car open).
My ex and I were both amazed and scared and didn't say a word until a few minutes later after it had passed and gone, if I'm honest I was scared to start the car incase whatever it was came back.
I've only ever told 3-4 people about this experience, for fear of riddicule. But I have spent the last 8 years researching sightings on the internet to see if anyone else saw it, but with no luck. That is why when I saw your video I had to get in touch.
I also served as a Special Constable with Humberside Police - so I'm not the sort of person to jump to conclusions or exagerate what I saw.
I would describe myself as a sceptical believer, I belive in paranormal activity and UFO sightings on a per case basis, and prefer to rule out all other explanations before reaching a conclusion.
Keep up the good work.

Huge airship shaped object reported out over flambrough head 17.3.09
Two men on bridlingtons south beach reported seeing a large airship shaped object out to sea whilst digging bait for a session of night fishing. They say the object remained in the same position for a considerable time.
A boat came around the headland from flambrough and it appeared very small compared to the gray object in the distance. It was mid afternoon and the sky was relatively clear. I'm sure if these men saw this then others must have seen it also. It is hard to say what it could have been with such a vague description. Unless anyone can offer more information.

1972 - At 6:30 p.m. three women watched a large dark shiny disc-shaped object with two triangular windows on top and a rotating bottom. It approached their house in Driffield, Humberside, England to within 200 meters. It hovered there for a minute, then backed away very slowly. It curved away to the north-northwest, and then went behind some woods. The sighting lasted for over six minutes, and they were able to view the UFO through binoculars.
Report from 10.12.08
I live high on the yorkshire wolds and the views i have from here are breath taking. At around 5.30 pm on wednesday the 10th i was in the bedroom of my small cottage. At the back of the cottage is a long strip of woodland, the trees are tall and mature and of an even height. Without warning a large white light appeared above them. It remained still for a few seconds then moved to the left in a parallel line. It went for a short distance then vanished. Then to my surprise another appeared some distance in front of the one that vanished. This happened four times as they moved along the tree line. On the last occasion a light from above dropped down vertical to join the forth light. One above the other. They both moved away slowly, rising up in a slow curve into the clouds. The clouds all lit up and it was easy to follow the path they took into the distance. As usual my wife went outside to view with binoculars. She said no sound could be heard. I am sure other people must have seen this it was amazing.

unknown object 16.10.08 We filmed this unusual object 5 mins after a large helicopter took off from close to where we were sat observing. The chopper landed 30mins before and sat in darkness. Is this what they wanted to see, or are the two unrelated we have no idea. It just adds to the mystery surrounding this area at the moment.

East yorkshire
I have been give the opportunity to film objects on the outskirts of east yorkshire that are definitely out of range of any tangible explanation at this point in time. If an earthly explanation can be found we want to here it. If i am honest i never thought i would get the chance to see things like this with such regularity, i realize that others reading this may think that its all over the top. Let me assure you that these sightings are on going. We don't need no armchair expert who buries his head in archives looking for answers. This is happening now not in the past. The future of this subject and it,s acceptance into the public eye must be focused on the present. This is where the public at large are at right now. They have little interest in historic ufo cases.
.
The objects have no regularity and seem able to appear in different parts of the sky when ever they choose. I have waited hours on some occasions to view them. Then moved to another area half a mile or so away and they have appeared in the place i have previously been.

Observations of the current ufo sightings
Many of these objects have been seen out at sea and do not travel with the wind like the chinese lanterns often associated with a ufo sighting. Witnesses say they can appear and disappear in seconds in different parts of the sky.
Too many people from all walks of life are seeing them. If anyone can tell me what a Chinese lantern would be doing hanging in the sky 10miles out at sea i would love to hear.
If you want to read about the sightings from a totally unbiased view take a look on the whitby fishing forums. These guys post about good fishing locations and the size of cod. They have no interest in lights in the sky or ufos. Yet these things get a mention from time to time in the posts
I came across these by accident and was surprised by the number of reported sightings.
I have since spoken to many of bridlingtons fishermen. Lots of them have stories to tell of there ufo sightings out at sea.
The Bridlington free press news paper has printed peoples ufo sightings. No less than eight people contacted the paper on the 15th of march 07 to say they had seen the lights in the sky. That's eight separate reports in one week. Most of those who reported the objects to the paper had more than one witnesses with them at the time. The sightings in our area seem to be occurring from Bempton right through to Driffield which is a 20 mile stretch of land. So just what is going on.

Bridlington Club Steward sees ILF above him On the North beach November 1992 Here is another first hand account told to me bye a local well respected publican [without the aid of alcohol] It was on a cold November evening that Ron took his dog to the north beach, a thing he did once of twice a day with out exception. He says the air was cool and the sky was very clear. As usual his little dog ran up and down the beach chasing after the ball. He walked down as far as the expanse Hotel a journey of about 10 to 20 min's depending on what the dog found of interest along the way. Some 5 to 10 minuets into the walk back towards the club he realized that everything seemed to have gone very quite, even the noise of the sea. He looked around puzzled then looked up. There directly above him was a ring of soft lights blue/yellow/green. He studied them for a while trying to decided if the lights belonged to something much larger and sold above them. One moment he thought they did the next he was unsure. The other odd thing was that he could not decided if they were just above him or hundreds of feet above him. They made no sound and he did think they were part of some thing solid one moment then he did the next. Ron was completely lost, as hard as he tried he just could not work it out. He says he actually reached up onto his tip toes and tried to touch the lights. He watched the lights for around 5 minuets and then without a sound they slowly glided away from him and went out to sea. Ron says the object was oval in shape and about 12ft round. The time of the sighting was about 5.15 pm and as far as he knows there were no other witnesses. Ron who is now aged 62 says this odd occurrence lasting at the most 5 minuets is the strangest thing he has ever witnessed. Strange Experience Scarborough Road 1991
Here's and interesting story told to me bye a guy called Andrew [real name] Andy is now aged 42 and i have know him for about 10years. I would say he is not the kind of man to make up a story, and this one is a little odd in that it dose not fit neatly into any category really. After a night out in Scarborough to see friends Andy set off back to bridlington in the early hours, time 1pm approx. He came over a small hill on the way down into the little sea side town of Bridlington, to his right was a road sign posted Grindel and to the left a bank of long sloping fields used for growing crops. At the end of these fields is a run down row of sheds [still there to this day] they are used for housing the beach donkeys during the winter months. It was a very clear night full of stars and totally devoid of any other cars except his old Vaxhall. Suddenly to the left of him a section of the field lit up like a football pitch [his words not mine] He stopped the car and jumped out to look. He could not be live it, it was large triangle shaped area of intense white light. Andy looked around and up into the sky for clues as to what it could be, but he could not see or hear anything. For some reason he then felt frightened and had a feeling he was being watched. Andy wasted no time getting back into the car. Seconds later Andy was hurriedly putting the car into gear and driving towards town and relative safety. He did look back at the field and it was still lit up in the shape of a triangle. Rudston/Langtoft 1979 Here's an older report from 1979 of a man and his wife traveling home through Rudston East yorkshire to a small village called Langtoft about 4 miles away. I have the mans full name and address and spoke to him at length about the encounter. For this report we will call him Steve. As Steve and his wife passed through the village of Rudston in the early hours of a saturday morning they became aware of a single white light behind them. At first it only puzzled them because of its brightness and position, and that it seemed to be keeping pace with the car. It appeared to be just higher than the road. Puzzlement soon turned to fear as they both realized that the light was now so close to the back of there car that its inside was lit up. As car approached the turn off that would take them home to the village of langtoft they both sighed thinking the ordeal was over. For a few minutes at least the light seemed to have gone, then fast as it left them, it was on there tail again. The frightened pair pushed the car to its limit along the narrow unlit road. Bringing the car to a sudden halt out side there home. Wasting no time getting into the house the pair of them ran upstairs to the bedroom window, amazed to see the object hung in the night sky. Steve told me that the object was quite large, about 25ft round and that it made a sound like a sort of humming and that it was as though they could almost feel it hum. They said that a large area of land below the object was lit with a brilliant white light and it is known for sure that more people in the village saw the UFO, however it was only bye chance that i managed stumbled across this story and all attempts to find out more have drawn a blank.
Blue UFO over bridlington Harbor 1979 Here's a ufo report that i had to think about a few times before putting it on to the site. The reason being, its funny in some ways but its also a very true and genuine sighting. Peter Barr still lives in bridlington and told me this story several years ago. Even now if asked about his ufo sighting peters account never changes and still brings a smile. Pete says he saw the object in the summer of 1979 whilst walking along the harbor in bridlington on his way out to the pub. He says he was smartly dressed in a crombie good quality trousers and suede boots. On route to the pub peter was sidetracked by a friend stood in an old rowing boat who shouted him over. Pete went to the side of the harbor and listened as his friend explained how he wanted him to help. The plan was to row across the harbor to a large fishing boat moored at the other side. His friend explained that his push bike was some where on the boat. Pete agreed and a short time there after they set off across the harbor to the fishing boat. Half way across the water there small rowing boat now had 4 inches of sea water in it. A short time later Pete, his mate and an old bike were setting off back across the water in a leaking boat. His suede boots now soaked though. Back in 1979 bridlington Harbor had a bridge over it for pedestrians. It was on the bridge that Pete noticed a small crowd of people gathered looking up into the sky. He says the time would have been about 7.00pm although he could not be certain. They stopped rowing a few moments to see what was so interesting. It was a warm summer evening and there in the sky for all to see was a blue glowing oblong shaped Ufo. He says it was metallic in colour and seemed to be pulsing. It never moved for a few minuets and they got a very good look at it. He says he had never seen anything like it in his life before. It was quite low in the sky and pete thinks about the size of a small plane. Peter added that in less than a few seconds it shot away at a steep angle and vanished. He recalls that this particular UFO sight made the local papers although up to this point i have not been able to locate the story. Glowing green ufo 1980s Tim Ward was about14 years of age when he and 4 school friends saw a green oblong shaped ufo traveling slowly through the sky at Kings Gate bridlington. He recalls the sighting he and his school mates had vividly. Saying that for some unexplained reason they all felt very very frightened. Saying how the object seemed to be traveling towards them. Tim says he and the other boys decided to make a run for it. He is adamant that the ufo was following them, saying how they could still see it clearly when they finally reached home. Tim has no idea why they all felt so frightened, he says the ufo was silent and light green in colour. This is not the first time i have had reports of green UFOs from around that period of time. I have another from a man now in his late 50s called Phil Morris. Phil told me that one evening whilst walking home from work that he saw a green oblong UFO in the area of West Hill, for those not familiar with bridlington west hill is very close to the hospital which is shown on most local maps of the area. His sighting was quite amazing as Phil went on to tell me and a room full of others how the ufo slowly traveled parallel with a street at about the height of a double decker bus. He says it was totally silent and very slow moving. Phil was walking across an open field at the time towards his home on west hill. He says he just stood in amassment as the object moved away from the houses and continued on across the field passing him as it did so. I belive there is more to phil's story, however this small amount of information i gleaned had to be pried from him. We were all talking about other things whilst having a lunch break, when out of the blue this subject, for some reason [not my suggestion] came up. I do not make a habit of taking my interest in this subject to work. Me and phil worked together for quite a while and i have tried to speak with him since about it but refuses to say anything more. |
The flight up the coast was uneventful, and I did a couple of circuits over Whitby before flying inland a little to a point over the North Yorkshire Moors not far from Fylingdales, where I headed due South back towards my home airfield. On the way back I realised that I had cut it a bit fine, and the sun was setting quite quickly. Because it was a vintage aircraft I used to keep the engine revs relatively low to be gentle on the 50 year old engine, but on this occasion I opened the throttle to 2400 rpm, but by the time I had arrived at my turning point not far from Weaverthorpe, the sun shining over in the west through the starboard window was very bright and low in the sky.
As I looked to the East in preparation for my turn I was mystified by the apparent bright sun in the East as well. Looking through the port window was like looking directly into the sun. At first I thought that perhaps it was a reflection of some kind, but it was obvious that this was not the case. The view ahead was clear although it was beginning to get dark and I scanned my instruments and all were indicating normally. I was still puzzling about the bright light from the east and I was just about to commence my turn to the East when suddenly the aircraft seemed to bump into an invisible brick wall in the sky. There was no sharp jolt, but there was a sudden feeling of deceleration rather like the brakes being rapidly applied on a car, it was if I and the aircraft suddenly had become stationary in the sky. I again scanned the instruments. The airspeed indicator was indicating that I was still flying at 80 mph but clearly I was not. The engine note did not change and all the other instruments were indicating that I was flying straight and level. The rate of climb indicator was on zero indicating that I was not descending or climbing
From this point I can remember absolutely nothing, and the next thing I can remember was that I was flying in exactly the same place in the sky but it was dark... Very dark! And the lights of Driffield could be clearly seen ahead. The cockpit was in total darkness and I could not see any of the instruments. The cockpit was equipped with a light, but this was not working as I had blown the fuse earlier while trying to fix the radio. In addition it was not possible to turn on any navigation lights as the fuse for these was also blown. It took quite some time to come to terms with my situation and I honestly began to think it was some kind of dream, but the truth of the matter was that I was piloting an aircraft in the dark and had no idea how this had happened.
I continued to fly towards Driffield thinking about what to do next. I could not call anyone on the radio as it was not working. I then considered flying to Humberside Airport as the lights of the Humber Bridge towers were clearly visible, and I knew that I could probably find the airport from there. But given that I didn't have a radio or navigational lights, I didn't think it would be a good idea to just turn up and land, not to mention the fact that there could be other aircraft in that area. Given that I knew where I was, I thought that the best option was to fly back to my home base. Even if I had to crash into the ground I could fly the aircraft slow enough to probably walk away from it.
I therefore turned towards the coast and Flamborough Lighthouse could be clearly seen ahead. Fortunately, I knew the area well and I was able to work out where the airfield was as it was close to a small village which was easily identified from the air, even in the dark. Although some distance away, there was a road that ran parallel to the runway and with another stroke of luck the farmer was ploughing the field (or spreading slurry) that ran between the road and the runway, and the headlights of the tractor could be clearly seen.
I circled around for some time to pick up on other clues as the where the runway was and commenced on the approach. My main fear being that fact that in knew that 33kv power cables ran across the final approach to the runway. Descending into the blackness was scary and not being able to see the instruments to judge my airspeed or height above the ground made the situation very scary indeed, but fortunately I made an almost perfect landing.
I shut the aircraft down and just sat for several minutes trying to get my head around what had just happened. I checked my watch and recon about an hour and a half had elapsed of which I have absolutely no recollection. From the point of apparently stopping in mid air to finding myself flying in the dark is to me totally unexplainable. The next day I checked the fuel quantity in the aircraft and this also indicated that the aircraft cannot have been flying for the missing hour or so. Again I have no explanation for this.
Officially I should have reported this incident to the CAA, but given the circumstances I decided against this. I have never told anyone this story before, not even my closest friends, but a chance meeting with Paul has encouraged me to write this account
Incident at RAF Binbrook September 8th 1970
If i am being honest i think the radio transcript is fake. Something did happen to the lightning and its pilot that had to be hushed up otherwise the mystery would not have been regarded as top secret for such a long period of time.
At the moment our area has lots of activity and it is creating interest world wide. I know readers have seen things but don't post for fear of ridiqule, be assured anything reported to me in confidence stays that way unless im given permission to post it onto the web site.
Going back to the lightning, there are many things of interest, for instance the M.O.D. say the sea that night was calm and that when the reconnaissance shakelton aircraft passed over the lightning was floating on the surface of the sea. In fact the sea was very rough, so rough that one of the flambrough life boat crew broke a leg in the search. For the lighting to be sat undamaged it would literally have to have been placed there. The plane was in effect a flying dart and i have been told by experienced lighting pilots that ditching a lighting would be an impossibility due to the extreme speeds that it flew at. In short something out of the ordinary happened.
Ireceived unsigned hand delivered letters with information about the lighting a few years ago. I shared the information with the late Tony Dodd. Tony informed me about what i could expect if i put this information out?
Wanting to hear about any UFO related info you may have from around this area.
THE saying that the truth is out there could be about to take on a new meaning in the area after a string of mysterious sightings in the sky.
Suspicious bright lights dotting the night sky above Bridlington and Flamborough throughout May drew curious members of the public to contact the Free Press in an attempt to get to the bottom of the strange events.
Alan Norrie, of Field Road, Bridlington, was one who witnessed the most recent example on Monday, May 25 of a large glowing light shining brightly before quickly disappearing.
He said: "I went into the kitchen and looked out of the window into the back garden and noticed there were a lot of stars in the sky. "Then I saw a really bright light flashing and all of a sudden it moved."
"It looked like a really bright halogen light shining down. I shouted my wife to come and look at it, but she said it would just be the police helicopter. But it wasn't. "There was no noise and it can't have been a plane either because they have flashing lights, but there were none whatsoever."
Mr Norrie contacted Paul Sinclair, of Blackburn Avenue, who has a website dedicated to such sightings. He said there had been a number of recent sightings in the area.
The mysterious light was also witnessed by Maggie Masters and her daughter, Cindy, 16, who said they saw the light from their home in St John's Avenue.
Mrs Masters said her daughter saw two strange objects in the sky, but only took notice after spotting the second one.
"We went outside to see and it was white and a gold colour inside. "It looked like a police helicopter's search light, but it couldn't have been because it was so quiet, there was no noise. "Then all of a sudden it moved to the right and disappeared behind the houses. "I used to scoff at things like this, but it was really strange."
More intriguing activity in the skies was captured by Nicole Sinclair, who photographed a red object above her home in Mount Crescent.
Nicole, 14, who witnessed the strange light, said she is convinced the light is a UFO and added she had sent the picture to Calendar News.
She said: "I saw lights that were red in colour and they were going really quickly across the sky. "I looked out of our back garden and there were quite a lot and I think it was a UFO."
Further suspicions have been raised after a burning object with trailing jets of fire was apparently witnessed moving towards Scarborough from Flamborough Head earlier in May.
The Baines family, from Flamborough, watched it unfold through a telescope.
They told the Free Press: "A meteor would have moved much more quickly and a plane burning up would have plummeted to the earth presumably. "It wasn't a sky lantern or anything light in weight because it was not moving erratically or slowly. "The only thing we could think of was that it might be a piece of satellite burning up."
And a bright red object, described as being three times bigger than a star, and hovering below the clouds, was also spotted at the beginning of May out at sea towards Flamborough Head by a dog walker
Historical reports of UFO's by Paul Sinclair
1290 Yorkshire, UK An ancient manuscript found in Byland Abbey and belonging to the ancestors of Henry, the Abbott, reads, "There was a great portent outside. A large round silver thing like a disc flew slowly over them and excited the greatest terror." People, partaking in the feast commemorating the Saints of Simon and Jude, rushed out into the night to witness this mysterious phenomenon. Monks at Byland Abbey observed a slow saucer shaped object fly over their compound in the night sky.

"Northeast of the Terrace, in clear sky and warm weather, I saw appear suddenly an oblong cloud nearly parallel to the horizon. Below the cloud was seen a luminous body, brightly lit up and almost stationary.. This strange ball at first appeared bluish and faint, but its light increased, and it soon began to move. At first, it ascended above the horizon, obliquely toward the east. Then it changed its direction and moved parallel to the horizon. It vanished in the southeast. I saw it for half a minute, and the light it gave out was prodigious. It lit up every object on the face of the country. It changed shape to oblong, acquired a tail, and seemed to split up into two bodies of small size. About two minutes later came a rumble like an explosion," wrote Tiberius Cavallo, Fellow of the Royal Society, in his memoirs.
1783.08.30; Greenwich, UK
Farmers watched in amazement as a brightly lit, strange object hovered in the night sky. They were even more amazed when the object seemed to release many smaller luminous craft which floated around the larger craft. After a time, all seemed to disappear in an instant.
8.10.1809 Hatton Garden, London
UK, London, Hatton Garden, 08/10/1809, "I saw many meteors moving around the edge of a black cloud from which lightning flashed. They were like dazzling specks of light, dancing and traipsing through' the clouds. One increased size till it became of the brilliancy and magnitude of Venus, on a clear evening. But I could see no body in the light. It moved with great rapidity, and coasted the edge of the cloud. Then it became stationary, dimmed its splendor, and vanished. I saw these strange lights for minutes, not seconds. For at least an hour, these lights, so strange, and in innumerable points, played in and out of this black cloud. No lightning came from the clouds where these lights were playing," wrote Astronomer John Staveley in the "Journal of Natural History and Philosophy and Chemistry."

A large, cigar shaped object overflies the south of England, and is observed by the farming communities located there.
1868.06.08 Oxford
Astronomers at Radcliffe Observatory at Oxford noticed that Venus had a large red spot floating above the misty atmosphere of the planet. Upon further investigation, the spot was in fact in the atmosphere of Earth. The UFO changed course several times, heading west, north, then south. After four minutes, the astronomers lost sight of the object.

Older but no less important reports
216 B.C. Things like ships were seen in the sky over Italy.
.. At Arpi (180 Roman miles, east of Rome, in Apulia) a round shield was seen in the sky. At Capua, the sky was all on fire, and one saw figures like ships...
99 B.C. When C. Murius and L. Valerius were consuls, in Tarquinia, there fell in different places.... a thing like a flaming torch, and it came suddenly from the sky. Towards sunset, a round object like a globe, or round or circular shield took its path in the sky, from west to east.
90 B.C. In the territory of Spoletium (65 Roman miles north of Rome, in Umbria) a globe of fire, of golden colour, fell to the earth, gyrating. It then seemed to increase in size, rose from the earth, and ascended into the sky, where it obscured the disc of the sun, with its brilliance. It revolved towards the eastern quadrant of the sky. [Harold T. Wilkins, Flying Saucers on the Attack, pp.164-69] A later chronicler of inexplicable phenomena, one Conrad Wolffhart (a professor of grammar and dialectics who under the pen name of Lycosthenes wrote the compendium Prodigiorum ac Ostentorum Chronicon, published in 1567), mentions the following events:
393 A.D. Strange lights were seen in the sky in the days of the Emperor Theodosius. On a sudden, a bright globe appeared at midnight. It shone brilliantly near the day star (planet, Venus), about the circle of the Zodiac. This globe shone little less brilliantly than the planet, and little by little, a great number of other glowing orbs drew near the first globe. The spectacle was like a swarm of bees flying around the bee-keeper, and the light of these orbs was as if they were dashing violently against each other. Soon, they blended together into one awful flame, and bodied forth to the eye as a horrible two-edged sword. The strange globe which was first seen now appeared like the pommel to a handle, and all the little orbs, fused with the first, shone as brilliantly as the first globe. [This report is similar to modern accounts of UFO formations.] [Harold T. Wilkins, Flying Saucers on the Attack, pp.174, 177]
A rare typeset book from 1493, now preserved in a museum at Verdun, France, contains what may be the earliest pictorial representation of a UFO in Europe. Hartmann Schedel, author of the book Liber Chronicarum, describes a strange fiery sphere - seen in 1034 - soaring through the sky in a straight course from south to east and then veering toward the setting sun. The illustration accompanying the account shows a cigar-shaped form haloed by flames, sailing through a blue sky over a green, rolling countryside. (Jacques Vallee, UFO's in Space: Anatomy of a Phenomenon, p.9)
A term equivalent to our "flying saucer" was actually used by the Japanese approximately 700 years before it came into use in the West. Ancient documents describe an unusual shining object seen the night of October 27, 1180, as a flying "earthenware vessel." After a while the object, which had been heading northeast from a mountain in Kii province, changed its direction and vanished below the horizon, leaving a luminous trail. (Jacques Vallee, Passport to Magonia pp.4-5)
Here is a classical description from William of Newburgh's Chronicle of a flying saucer seen in England toward the end of the 12th century: At Byland or Begland Abbey (the largest Cistercian abbey in England), in the North Yorkshire Riding, while the abbot and monks were in the refectorium, a flat, round, shining silvery object ["discus" is the word used in the Latin account] flew over the abbey and caused the utmost terror. [Harold T. Wilkins, Flying Saucers on the Attack, p.185]
What might be called the first official investigation of a UFO sighting occurred in Japan in 1235. During the night of September 24, while General Yoritsume and his army were encamped, they observed mysterious lights in the heavens. The lights were seen in the southwest for many hours, winging, circling and moving in loops. The general ordered a "full-scale scientific investigation" of these strange events. The report finally submitted to him has the "soothing" ring of many contemporary explanations offered for UFO phenomena. In essence it read: "the whole thing is completely natural, General. It is... only the wind making the stars sway." (Jacques Vallee, Passport to Magonia p.5) Many unusual celestial events were recorded in Japanese chronicles during the Middle Ages. As in Western society, such occurrences were usually considered "portents," often resulting in panics and other social disturbances.
On September 12, 1271, the famous priest Nichiren was about to be beheaded at Tatsunokuchi, Kamakura, when there appeared in the sky an object like a full moon, shiny and bright. Needless to say, the officials panicked and the execution was not carried out.
In 1361, a flying object described as being "shaped like a drum, about twenty feet in diameter" emerged from the inland sea off western Japan... ...
on March 8, 1468, a dark object, which made a "sound like a wheel," flew from Mt. Kasuag toward the west at midnight. [Jacques Vallee, Passport to Magonia, pp.5-6]
The European record of possible UFO sightings continued throughout the 14th and 15th centuries: 1322 A.D. In the first hour of the night of Novr. 4... there was seen in the sky over Uxbridge, England, a pile (pillar) of fire the size of a small boat, pallid and livid in colour. It rose from the south, crossed the sky with a slow and grave motion, and went north. Out of the front of the pile, a fervent red flame burst forth with great beams of light. Its speed increased, and it flew thro' the air....
1387 A.D. In Novr. and Decr. of this year, a fire in the sky, like a burning and revolving wheel, or round barrel of flame, emitting fire from above, and others in the shape of a long fiery beam, were seen through a great deal of the winter, in the county of Leicester, Eng., and in Northamptonshire. 1461 A.D. On November 1, a fiery thing like an iron rod of good length and as large as one half of the moon was seen in the sky, over.... Arras, France for less than a quarter of an hour. This object was also described as being "shaped like a ship from which fire was seen flowing." [Jacques Vallee, UFO's in Space: Anatomy of a Phenomenon, p.9; Harold T. Wilkins, Flying Saucers on the Attack, pp.187, 188]
Sighting Haverdale West Lutton 1990
I live in north yorkshire not too far away from many of the reported sightings on ILF. Here is a story of my own. One night in the summer of 1990 ish i was with a girlfriend at a place called haverdale near west lutton. My then girlfriend said to me look at that in the sky, i looked up and saw this thing with 4 lights on it hung motionless in the sky. It was sunny but i could still see the lights alternating from one to the another.
I then heard a jet engine, looking round i saw an RAF tornado jet screaming away from the object. The UFO then made a 90 degree turn???? the next day the yorkshire evening press had reports of a sighting over the blue ball pub in malton and another sighting in langtoft....and the RAF said in the paper they had no jets flying that night????????cover up me thinks.
Paul i wish i could tell you a little more about my sighting but it was roughly 16 years ago, to get a exact date you would have to go through the yorkshire evening press archives cos they printed an article the following day...as for the weather it was a hot summers night . The wolds seem to be a magnet to this sort of thing i think judging by the other accounts on your web site ...
Large halogen sized lights seen hanging in sky bye 4 separate witnesses Monday 25 of May. Time 12.20am approx. Witness names and addresses are available to anyone wanting to question the credibility of this sighting. It was a star filled night when Alan noticed the large glowing white ball of light from his kitchen window. He opened his back door and stood a few moments watching in amazement. Moments later he shouted his wife to come and look. Her first reaction was that it was the police helicopter with its search light on. Alan told me it was about the same size except that this object was totally silent and quite close. After a few minuets the light moved to the right and gathered pace. He thinks its direction of travel would have been Scarborough road area over to grindale. At the same time the object was being observed by a couple and there teenaged daughter from the back garden of there home in st. Johns avenue. There description is the same except they saw two large silent lights.
I have contacted the local Bridlington free press and passed on the contact numbers. Weather the paper feels it is worthy of news remains to be seen. I did contact the Driffield paper about the sighting reported by a couple the previous week but they never followed up the story.
I feel that telling the plain facts as they are told to me is not enough.
More on the driffield sightings added 9.6.09
The object was at least 20m in diameter if not more also it did appear if it was on fire therefore I also presumed that it was a Chinese lantern at first, until it took manoeuvres opposite to the wind direction thus not been carried by the wind; but rather a mechanical device I would like to assume .
In addition the flight path was identical appearing in a north to south direction the anomaly appeared a second time this time coming from the same direction but with a lower altitude it seemed to glide much slower over my mothers back garden the second time round, the pictures on your main web page of a glowing red UFO are scarily similar to that of what we all encountered I can get statements from the other witnesses if it would be any further help in the validity of this case.
Furthermore it was bright orangey red that glided and didn’t make a sound 5 out of the seven witnesses believe that it was a craft of some sort the others who may I add, had considerably more to drink at this point than the rest of us; did believe that it was nothing that couldn’t be explained. When I harassed them for there individual accounts separately not one person could explain it to me in logical terms.
One thing i did notice was that the first time it passed it seemed to climb in altitude at considerable speed and then disappear, the second time it passed coming from the same direction it seemed to fly over the neighbours house where it lost altitude and slowly submersed itself below the other side of the neighbours house, so i went out of my mothers front door on Wansford rd to see if this UFO was still there it had disappeared completely.
If you ever need any help with investigations would be more than happy to help any other relevant data you require please don’t hesitate to ask, Keep the good work going.

I Live in Driffield and on the night of 19/05/09 me and my partner went to my mothers house for a BBQ at approximately 10.30 me my partner and 7 other witnesses saw this spherical shaped craft glide silently over my mothers house and shoot off into the abyss, after the lengthy debate about what it could of been; the Craft returned but this time passed over the garden and then seemed to travel upwards until it suddenly disappeared. It is interesting that a couple saw this at River Head as i was on Wansford Rd approx 500m away from RiverHead.
This UFO was round in shape with a red glow to it at first as it became directly above us it had a hole in the middle of it with a very bright white dot.

Very Large ufo seen river side Driffield 16.5.09
Had an interesting telephone conversation today 19.5.09 from a couple who both witnesses a ufo of huge size over driffield on 16.5.09 saturday night? They say the object which was spherical appeared low in the sky about 10.30pm. They think the location that it was hovering above was riverside close to the mast. I need to clarify what mast this is. The weather conditions were very wet and windy and this object was steady. It was deep red in colour and appeared to be on fire within itself. My immediate thought was a Chinese lantern but the couple dismissed that saying it was of huge proportions. I next suggested a hot air balloon. They say it was nothing like a hot air balloon. I have to say i find it hard to believe a hot air balloon would be in the air at 10.30pm in those weather conditions.
When they pulled up and got out of the car to get a better look the object rose to cloud height hovered a few seconds then shot up vertical at incredible speed. Its light could be seen flashing through the clouds. I have contacted the driffield times but have not had a reply so far. It will be interesting to hear if any more sightings come to light. An object of this size must have been seen by others in the area. Regards Paul
Hedge Lights
A few weeks ago I was talking to Steve Ashbridge and good friend of mind who has spent countless hours with me on the East Yorkshire wolds hoping to get a glimpse of the light forms. It was during that conversation that Steve reminded me about the hedge lights.
A few years ago UFO activity on the wolds was so frequent that this part of the phenomena was placed on the back burner. One of the first locations that we observed the light forms was from the cross roads of langtoft, octon, butterwick and the long straight road that took you to Sledmere.
It was on the Sledmere road that we observed the hedge lights.
The only house on that road was a farm that was set back from the road about 500 yards, the distance from the cross roads to the horizon was about a mile of road with nothing else in between.
It was while waiting at the cross roads hoping to see the wolds light forms that the hedge lights would appear, Steve saw them first one night early in 2008. The road has a hawthorn hedge of varying heights along its entire length on the right hand side; we would park on the Butterwick road, just off the main road at the other side of the hedge looking out onto fields and the farm far in the distance.
I remember Steve pointing to lights low down in the hedgerow white and red about half a mile away. He said he thought it was someone on a bike coming up the road towards us. I had to agree, now on reflection we know it could not have been. We were looking at a white that if it had been a bike would have been the front light and red light, how could we have seen the back of the bike? We both walked out to the main road and waited; no light appeared it simply vanished.
That same night a light slowly moved through the hawthorns like it was looking for something the odd thing was that it did not illuminate anything around it.
We were seeing this at the same time that we were observing the UFOs, the light forms were so exciting to view that we lost sight of how important these hedge lights might have been.
I now think that this was perhaps the closest thing to contact with the objects that we got. At times over the months these lights were within 30 feet of us. Pale white lights that moved slow and deliberate thought the trees.
I regret not making more of these objects; Steve was far more enthusiastic as I remember.
Many times we would jump into the car and drive down the main road at walking pace trying to find a source for the lights, as with all such sightings there was no logic to how or why they appeared. The only thing we know for sure is that they were always around when we were observing the light forms. I have to be clear here and tell the reader that the main reason that the light forms took priority over the [hedge lights] was because they were so large and intense. When an object suddenly appears in the sky and hangs around for a while you tend to forget about things less illuminated. Anyone viewing the wolds footage can get an idea of this.
The objects we were there to observe were always very bright and sharp, colours ranging from white to intense red with all the variations in-between. However the hedge lights were pale in comparison. On a few occasions we saw small red ones and my daughter once saw a blue one over the top of the corn. That was during our first summer filming the objects.
There is also a man who lives a few miles away who has a camcorder set up day and night, the cam looks over the countryside with an unrestricted view as far as the Sledmere road. Some of his footage is very interesting and many of the clips show the objects around this area. He has spent many hours observing these light forms. His footage shows all aspects of the phenomena. Because he films day and night there can be no argument that the objects filmed are not above the ground. At times cars can be seen entering the frame left or right and there journey on the road below is also tracked. It is interesting to note that on most occasions the UFO vanish and reappear when the vehicle has gone.
So what are the hedge lights? They do appear to be interested in something around this area of theWolds. I don’t think for one second that they are military or man made. We have noted that helicopter and plane activity increases after they appear. But nothing man made could simply appear out of thin air like these things do.
The hedge lights are so odd; we would see them slowly moving under the trees, one side of the hedge then the other. Steve has actually gone out over the field on a few occasions and like ghosts they vanish as he arrives at the point where they were.
That to me implies some sort of intelligence on there part. Although it is hard to conceive that they may view us as intelligence. I think we may have been more of a curiosity.
When you think about it how could we interact with a much higher level of intelligence, or on the opposite end of the scale a much lower? We have to assume that what ever we are dealing with dose not think the same way that we do. In fact the word think I feel is the wrong word to use. These objects operate on another level, it is obvious that if we knew what we were looking at we would have some kind of understanding of them. Simple answer is we don’t.
To the reader who thinks we are talking rubbish please be aware that we are not basing our assumptions on faith alone. We have seen these objects up close, our proof was shown to us. Sceptics with your heads so far up the arse of science and scientific understanding should consider the possibility that human understanding dose not have all the answers.
I hope that in 2012 I am able to obtain footage of the hedge lights, sightings on theWoldsseem to have dropped but our enthusiasm has not.
WILLY HOWE

The fullest English version of the ‘stolen fairy cup’ legend is localized at Willy Howe, a large round barrow near Wold Newton in Humberside (formerly East Yorkshire); it was recorded as a real event by William of Nwebururgh (died c.1198), who had been born nearby and had known about it since childhood. A village man, riding home late one night and rather drunk, heard singing and laughter coming from the mound; then he saw an open door, and people feasting inside. When a servant came out and offered him a cup, ‘he wisely forebore to drink, but, pouring out the contents, and retaining the vessel, he quickly departed,’ pursued by the furious guests.
It was a vessel of an unknown material, unusual colour, and strange form. It was offered as a great present to Henry the Elder, King of England, and then handed over to the Queen's brother, David, King of Scotland, and deposited for many years among the treasures of his kingdom; and, a few years since, as we have heard from authentic relation, it was given up by William, king of the Scots, to Henry the Second, on his desiring to see it. (Trans. Joseph Stevenson (1856/1996), 438)
Clearly, the cup was real, even though the tale is an international legend. Gervasee of Tilbury knew a similar story about a mound in the Forest of Dean where thirsty travellers were offered drink in a jewelled horn ‘such as was used among the old English’, by a silent servant; eventually, a knight stole the horn and gave it to Robert, Earl of Gloucester, who then gave it to Henry I (Westwood, 1985: 25-6, 350-2).
There is yet a third version allegedly attached to Rillaton Barrow in Cornwall, and purporting to explain a prehistoric gold goblet found there (now in the British Museum, after having been used by George V as a shaving mug). However, the goblet was found in 1837 and the story first appeared in 1899 in A Book of the West: Cornwall by the Revd Sabine Baring-Gould, who was familiar with medieval material; its authenticity is more than dubious.
Stories of fairy treasure continued to be told about Willy Howe. A man once found a chest of gold there, so heavy that it took a train of horses a quarter of a mile long to drag it out, but lost it at the last minute by blasphemously exclaiming, ‘Whether God's will or not, we'll have this ark’. Another man used to find a guinea on the mound every morning, left for him by fairies, but boasted of the gifts, after which they ceased (Hone, 1827: 92).

A huge Meteorite (the second largest recorded in England) fell to earth a few hundred yards away on the South-western side of the village .
This event occurred on 13th December 1795 at 3pm.
An obelisk is erected on the exact spot.
The bulk of the meteorite is now kept at the Natural History museum in London.
INTERESTING STORY ABOUT KILNHAM
Well, a few days ago I was speaking with my friend's mum about paranormal stuff. She told me about this road she travels down in her car to and from work. There were two seperate occassions that something strange has happened on this road:
1) She had just picked up her son and was on her way home, she travelled down the road and she said to her son, "I think we've taken a wrong turn." She told me that the road was dirt/gravel and there was a wooden sign post with "Kilham" engraved into it... as she travelled further down, the dirt/gravel turned to tarmac...
She travels the same way to and from work everyday, and has done for the last five years or so.
2) The same thing happened to her but she looked up as she was driving and saw an airplane flying very low in the air. I can't remember if she said "it didn't have any wings" or "I couldn't hear it's engines" but anyway, she then saw it crash into a field.
She was quite confused because there was no mention of a plane crash on the news. But, she asked her elderly neighbour about it and he said that a plane crashed into a field during World War II in that location!
I know this may sound strange, but she would not lie about such a thing. She told my mum about it too, and they're very close friends.
What are your thoughts on this? Have you had any experiences similar to this?
I'm going to visit that road sometime to see if anything happens. If you don't know where Kilham is, it's in East Yorkshire, England.
Still have questions? Please contact us anytime! We look forward to hearing from you. 07949455941
